I. Key Characteristics
Corrosion Resistance: Polyethylene material offers excellent resistance to chemical corrosion, withstanding most acids, alkalis, and salts, thereby maintaining good physical properties even in harsh environments.
Temperature Resistance: Polyethylene operates stably within a temperature range of -70°C to +80°C, significantly broadening its range of applications.
High Compressive Strength: These mats possess high compressive strength, capable of withstanding the pressure exerted by heavy vehicle traffic, making them suitable for both temporary and long-term road surfacing.
Lightweight: Polyethylene mats are lightweight and easy to handle, reducing the physical strain on workers during installation.
UV Resistance: Specially treated to effectively withstand ultraviolet radiation, these mats enjoy an extended service life.
Slip and Wear Resistance: The surface features an anti-slip pattern that enhances safety for pedestrians and vehicles, while the material itself offers excellent wear resistance.
II. Manufacturing Process
The manufacturing process for polyethylene mats is relatively straightforward, consisting primarily of raw material preparation and molding. During raw material preparation, high-density polymer granules are mixed and processed to create a ready-to-use melt. In the molding stage, a specific amount of thermoplastic is heated in an extruder until it flows; a screw mechanism then extrudes the material into continuous strips or pellets. Finally, the material is forced through a shaped die into a mold cavity, where it cools and solidifies into the finished product.
III. Application Scenarios
Thanks to their superior properties, polyethylene mats are widely used in sectors such as construction, transportation, and the military.
Construction: Used to lay temporary roads at construction sites, enabling vehicles and heavy equipment to traverse muddy terrain; also provides stable ground support for temporary structures and civil engineering projects.
Municipal Road Maintenance: When localized damage to city roads requires repair, polyethylene mats can be used to create temporary access paths, thereby minimizing traffic disruption. Oil and Gas Engineering: During the development and construction of oil and gas fields, polyethylene roadway mats can be laid in areas such as well sites and along pipeline routes, providing a stable platform for the movement and operation of construction vehicles and equipment.
Coal Mining Engineering: The floors of underground mine roadways must withstand the weight and pressure of heavy mining vehicles; thanks to their high load-bearing capacity and excellent wear resistance, polyethylene roadway mats are suitable for surfacing these underground paths.
Military Applications: During the construction and renovation of military bases, polyethylene roadway mats meet operational needs due to their lightweight nature and ease of transport and installation; they can also be rapidly deployed during military exercises to facilitate the movement of military vehicles and equipment.
In addition, polyethylene roadway mats are widely used for outdoor sports venues, lawn protection, and emergency response operations involving natural disasters—such as earthquakes and floods—as well as firefighting efforts.
